Bertahun-tahun berlalu, Malin berhasil menjadi pedagang kaya.

Ibu Malin sangat terluka.

Once upon a time, in a fishing village in West Sumatra, there lived a boy named Malin Kundang. He lived with his loving mother. They lived a modest life, but Malin always dreamed of becoming wealthy and successful.

One day, Malin decided to go on a journey. He set sail on a large ship and left his mother behind in the village. His mother was sad, but she hoped her son would return with success.

Years passed, and Malin became a successful merchant. He married a beautiful woman and lived a luxurious life. However, Malin forgot his promise to return and abandoned his mother.

One day, Malin’s ship docked near his hometown. When his mother heard about Malin’s arrival, she hurried to the port to meet him. However, when Malin saw his old and poor mother, he felt ashamed. He refused to acknowledge her and drove her away.

His mother was heartbroken. With a broken heart, she prayed to God for Malin to be punished. Suddenly, a huge storm came, destroying Malin’s ship, and at that moment, Malin’s body turned into stone.

To this day, the stone figure of Malin Kundang on the beach serves as a reminder of a child who disrespected his mother.
